Traveling in Rwanda

I’ll complain about this a lot throughout my Rwanda pages, but I lost about 75% of my photos from this trip and am sad that I don’t get to properly represent the country. I can at least say that Rwanda is one of the best countries I’ve visited in Africa. Despite the atrocities that happened not too long ago with the civil war and genocide, the country has seen an incredible turn around. Not only has peace returned, but the country has moved forward with education, infrastructure and human rights in all areas. The downtown parts of Kigali were surprisingly modern with a very friendly population. They’ve progressed to an incredible amount since the country was nearly completely destroyed in the 1990’s. Flights are cheap from the US, and with little corruption and hassle traveling here I’m sure I’ll be visiting again several times!

Kigali
Kigali is one of Africa’s best success stories after recovering from the brutal civil war. The city is is one of the cleanest and best organized capitals in Africa. Located in the heart of the country, it’s filled with modern restaurants, accommodations and museums. There’s a lot to learn here, about the country’s past, present and future.

Nyungwe
Nyungwe National Park sits in the southwestern parts of Rwanda and is most famous for its Chimpanzees. While a Chimpanzee trek in Nyungwe is certainly the highlight of a visit here, plenty of other activities are available such as bird watching, exploring the several hiking trails, camping, and the park’s famous Canopy Walk.
