Visiting Asheville

Asheville

You can tell by the few photos I have here, that Asheville was more of a stoppover than a true visit. On the way to the Smoky Mountains my friend and I came here for some lunch and dinner, and to grab a few drinks. The six photos on the page do little to show what Asheville is about, and I question if I should even have an Asheville page with such little content! I can say from my short experience here that Asheville is probably North Carolina’s hippiest city. The town draws in a fairly large and young crowd, is home to lots of live music, bars, and several artists.

Asheville Musician

I didn’t know that Asheville had such a live music scene until I visited. It’s pretty easy to find a bar with live music, and of course the streets are lined with street performers as well. Most of the music seemed to be country or blue grass, like the band photographed below.

Again I question if I should have created this page with such little content! Until I go back I can only add this is a very lively town with a ton of things to do. I think you could easily spend an entire week here and not be bored. The main place I had wanted to visit was the Biltmore mansion, the largest house in the United States! The price to visit was amusement park like, so I decided to put that off until another time. Until the, the most interesting experience I had was following this drunk guy below for entertainment purposes. He was stumbling around a bit and throwing some random insults until he finally got the attention of this police officer. I didn’t stick around to see if he was arrested, but I don’t think he was going to talk his way out of this one!
