Traveling in the Dominican Republic

Traveling in the Dominican Republic

My visit to the Dominican Republic was one of those exceptionally short visits, so in all honesty this country hardly counts as a trip! I’ve done way more on the other side of the island in Haiti for example, but of course I’ll come back here for a proper visit one day. So far I’ve only visited the capital Santo Domingo, and aside from so much more to do in the city I still have to visit their beautiful beaches, climb the Caribbean’s highest mountain, go scuba diving, and of course soak up some Caribbean culture!

Santdo Domingo

Santo Domingo is the oldest continuously inhabited European city in the New World, with its founding way back in 1496. Needless to say, this is one of the most historic cities in the Western Hemisphere when it comes to European colonization, with some buildings from the early 1500’s still standing. The city is known for its colonial central, museums, nightlight, and the Columbus’s Lighthouse; the final resting place of Christopher Columbus.
