Traveling in Delaware

Delaware

Delaware is America’s second smallest state located in the mid-Atlantic region. Delaware seems to be most proud its nickname ‘The First State”, since it was the first to ratify the Constitution. Even though the state is only two hours away from me, I’ve never really visited it until late in my travels. Delaware is most famous for its Rehoboth Beach, a place that attracts many people from surrounding areas like New York or Washington DC. Aside from its beaches, a few other historic areas of interest exist such as the remains of Swedish and Dutch colonies, a massive colonial fortification, the city of Wilmington, and the small town capital.

Wilmington

Wilmington was founded by the Swedish at the site of their first colony in the New World, and structures and cemeteries of their colony still remain. The city recently redeveloped their riverfront, and along with Trolley Square there are plenty of places for restaurants, bars, and nightlife. Several museums, the Brandywine Zoo and park, and other districts offer plenty for travelers.
