Traveling in Iraq

Iraq’s recent wars are what most imagine when they think of the country, but with almost half a decade of peace Iraq is not the same country it was ten years ago! While serious travel warnings are in place, I was able to visit all parts of the country and only met wonderful people throughout my trip.

Mt. Halgurd

The highest peak wholly within Iraq’s borders, Halgurd rises to over 3,600 metres, or just below 12,000 feet. The peak is beautiful any time of year, with lush green valleys and flowers in the spring, to a pristine snowy haven in the winter.
