Visiting Bangor
You can tell from my lack of photos that my visit to Bangor was short and sweet. I basically was passing through here on the way to Acadia National Park. I did stop by for lunch and do a little bit exploring. Bangor only has a population of 30,000 people, but the entire metro area surprisingly exceeds 150,000. Above is a photo of the city center.
After I got lunch, I walked around and explored the city’s statues and memorials. The statue above is of Hannibal Hamlin, one of the most famous politicians from Maine. He served over 50 years in his political career, and was even a vice president of the United States. The memorial below is dedicated to all those who lost their lives for the country.
My favorite thing in Bangor was probably the fact that it was spring. Spring came very late here in May, but nevertheless I loved seeing the trees and flowers all in bloom. was in Bangor in the first weekend of May, and was surprised that most of the trees didn’t have their leaves yet, while some still looked completely dead. The blooming flowers and tree buds though made up for this, and it was a perfect spring day.
